Musings (somewhat Angst)
So I look in the mirror tonight, observing where the air-conditioner slammed into my mouth on its way out the window, and suddenly wonder upon the meaning of life.
Maybe I shouldn't have gone outside to get the air conditioner out of the window, but it seemed like a good idea at the time...except for those voices in the back of my head saying: 'if you don't go at this with a plan, you're going to get hurt.'
Those are generally good voices, and I have learned my lesson.
Lately things seem good. ^.^ We have 'moved in' to the new (old) house that used to belong to my grandmother, and though my mom is very slow at getting things OUT of the house, we've got space to live and work, its warm, its bug-less, and its generally free. I've been filling out job applications today, and doing major convention planning (collecting info, taking down dates, filling out paperwork, and making hotel reservations) for the course of the next year. With a bit of luck, we can make some money doing Artist Alley around the country. Without luck, I'll just be working some bland job like usual. But at least I've got my hobbies. ^.^
Ryn is not so pleased about the house. It is, honestly, dirty and grimy and floor tiles are coming up and there is this terrible carpeting and the sink is a wreck, and there are windows everywhere. We're surviving, but so much has to change, and we just don't have the money for the changes right now.
I really, really...have so much that I want to do. I want to make great costumes, as always, and I'm so pleased about some of the projects I'll get to work on and the people who I'm working with. Even more pleasing is that I've found a new skit partner, so I can fulfill some of my lifelong dreams of making great performances, even if the audience is a crazy bunch of anime geeks. I guess the audience doesn't always matter...its DOING it that I really, really love. I'm looking forward to making art that we can take to conventions, getting to exercise in our HUGE backyard, getting to WRITE again, and sing again, and dance in the sun (since there are, after all, windows everywhere.) So, in general, things are good.
There are certainly setbacks, though. *sighs* Money is one.
Money is also two, and three, and probably at least half of four. The other half of four is TIME, which, even when I have in spades, I end up with a diamond. Or a heart. Or some other equally useless card, because you can just never really have ENOUGH time to do everything you want to do.
Which is a problem, even moreso, because right now I have about six people whom my life is revolving around and who I want to devote proper amounts of myself to, except that I just can't find the time to do it. I don't like this fact, not one bit. I hate to not talk to old friends, whom I have so many memories with, and I hate to not talk to knew ones and miss out on memories not yet made. I guess, for right now, I'm just going to have to focus on what is important and get life done, in the hopes that someday all the people I wanna spend time with will be right here beside me (and instead of keeping open ten aim windows while talking to Ryn in the corner and someone on the phone, I can just shout: 'HEY, SO AND SO...WHATS UP?'
And then we can all go out for delicious curry and fried banana ice cream and curl up on the bed and watch...well, something we all agree on. Movies, probably.)
With tea.
And hot cocoa.
Well, I do have a huge backyard. We could add on additions for a loong time and still have plenty of room. Could also add upwards, and also add downwards...
So how 'bout everyone come live here in good ol' St. Louis?
Or at least come visit us. ^.^
To conclude, ah...
Here are the cons I am considering hitting for 2008, and possible costumes for each. If you've got a good con to recommend, PLEASE do, as I'm looking for new ones to try out, and its especially good if there will be friends there. Most of this list is not concrete.
March 21-23 Anime Boston: 100% go! ^.^ This was a surprise, but I'll get to see Elemental and Ryuu and Fev, and maybe some of the east-coast costumers we haven't seen in a LONG time.
Bringing: Ven, Rufus, ?
March 28-30 Anime St.Louis: 60% go. Its right after AB, but its LOCAL so we can show up with what we've got left.
Bringing: ?
May 16-18 Acen: 100% go! Of course I go! This was my first Anime con, and even if I don't always like the way its run, I've got a fondness for it still, inside. I do appreciate their masquerade, too, so I'd like to participate...and I'd love to do our Cardboard Turk skit.
Bringing: Ven, Rufus, HTRoxas?
July 3-6 Anime Expo: 50% go. We want to be there, but it hinges on if I'm able to get an artist alley table, and we need to find a room or room-mate. Don't know what costumes to bring, either. e.e Maybe I need something new?
August 15-17 Anime Iowa: 50% go. Depends on table and room, again.
August 22-24 FanExpo: 70% go. We've got a place to crash and a reason to be there...just need to make sure we've got a table and aren't dead if we go to Iowa beforehand.
August 29-1 Dragoncon: 20% go. Seeing as there are cons the two weekends before this one, I don't think I'm going to be able to pull it off. Its not completely off the potential list, but its looking very unlikely.
September 19-21 Anime Weekend Atlanta: 60% go. I want to get down to Florida to see our friends there, and we don't have anything else happening in September, so this is looking like a win situation. ^.^ Plus its right before NSS at Disney...~
October 10-12 Anime USA: 40% go. I was looking for an October con and this would give us another chance to see some east-coast peoples. ^.^
October 31-2 Youmacon: 100% go. We love Youmacon, and we hope you will be there.
November 21-23 Midwest Fur Fest: 60% go. We're not fur-fanatics by any means, but we have a friend going so it might be fun, plus its localish.
And I think that just about wraps things up.
